Lunchtime in America

I
Two Muslim women, covered in dark clothing,
Only their faces showing,
Pull open the heavy wooden door
And enter the Sizzler.

II
A young man waits in line
To order McNuggets.
He picks up his little boy,
a toddler,
And kisses him loudly on the cheek.

III
The cashier, a Latino teen,
Takes his lunch break in the dining room.
Before he unwraps his Whopper,
he closes his eyes and bows his head slightly.
